2020 designated as Year of the Nurse and the Midwife

ENhANCE Alliance wishes everyone a Happy New Year 2020!

The World Health Assembly has denoted 2020 the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife, read more here. 2020 is also the third and final project year for ENhANCE so we will be focusing on ensuring maximum uptake of the ENhANCE results and the FCN European Curriculum at local and regional levels. Relevant stakeholders will be able to provide their input in an online ENhANCE survey supported with animations, that will shortly be made accessible on the ENhANCE website.

Policy makers should consider the gains that can be made through strategic investments in the profile of the Family and Community Nurse (FCN). The FCN could represent an efficient future investment, in a time when health systems are experiencing major challenges due to population ageing, health workforce burden and shortages, and a growing trend towards implementing community-based and person-centred care.
