The “Family and Community Nurse” becomes law in Italy

The Italian government has published a law to formalize the profile of the “Family and Community Nurse”, in the context of the “Relaunch Decree” – a set of laws recently passed in Italy to regulate the re-start after the COVID-19 lockdown.

The Family and Community Nurse has already been defined in the Pact for Health 2019-2021 between the Government and the Regions as a key actor in primary health care, especially concerning chronic and fragile people. Now the role of the FCN is being recognized at the national level as fundamental in also helping manage the COVID-19 emergency in Italy.

The ENhANCE project, coordinated by ITD-CNR, investigates innovative methods and tools to train Family and Community Nurses to ensure a skilled workforce that meets the real needs on the ground.
